About This Site

I created this website with no purpose in mind besides the fact I've always wanted to make a website since I was a teenager. When the internet was fun back then, minus the dial-up connection and annoying pop-ups. I often came across talented people who coded and designed their website to showcase their art and writing. I wasn't talented in those fields so I had no legitimate reason to make a website. I only stuck to making basic layouts for my Myspace page and ranting in my Xanga blog.

Fast forward to the chaotic year of 2020, the pandemic made me yearn for the old days. I took a trip down memory lane by surfing the internet archives, watched some childhood cartoons, binged on episodes of Buffy, listening to 90s & 00s music, and looking through pictures of myself as a kid. I noticed there were a lot of websites with useless information, nonsensical things, crudely drawn art, and a myriad of other things. It made me have an epiphany while looking through these sites. It made me think to myself: I should make my own website regardless of my ability and with no content in mind. Searching for a free web host, I stumbled upon neocities where personal websites still exists. I was so elated, I decided to make one myself and relearned html/css in the process.

An entire year has passed and my site still had no purpose and it's okay to feel this way. Even if I'm not doing anything interesting here, I've finally fullfilled my dream of making my website. Since then, I've chosen Dreamhost to host my site because the short version is: I've always wanted a custom domain to call home and to have more freedom with my website.

Why .online Domain?

Why not something simple like .com or .net?

My earliest memory of accessing the internet was on the dreaded AOL dial-up on a Dell Inspirion 1100 laptop with WindowsXP. I've spent every one of my free times reading blogs of people I'll never meeet in real life, taking fun quizzes, chatting on AIM, and playing flash games. Even when I was supposed to be getting an essay done by next week or trying to finish my last few math problems, I always procrastinated by going online. I always did the same things even when my parents upgraded to Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) and now I'm here with high speed internet. I'm always online even if I'm not directly looking at my screen because I'm streaming music, a podcast or a YouTube video while doing chores. It's like a piece of me has always been online so it was logical to have my online identity be attached to the web. Thus, stormfyrie.online was born.

TL;DR

I've made my teenage dream come true by creating this useless website. I chose .online domain because a piece of me has always been online and never signed off.

(◕‿◕)ノ I'm Storm, the owner of this little home on the internet. I'm just a lady who constantly daydreams about getting away from all the chaos.

My interests are all over the place but I'm mostly interested in video games. I love playing video games, watching documentaries/video essays about them, and watching let's plays. Sometimes, I'll look up no commentary playthroughs to determine whether or not I'll enjoy a game. I'm willing to try anything interesting as long as it's not sports, an MMO or requires competitive gameplay. My most favorite genre is RPG. I love investing into story rich games or games with lots of lore and worldbuilding. Other times, I want to snipe enemies, be a sneaky thief, go fishing, cause chaos, flip a house, build a base or solve a mystery.

About The Site Name

StormFyrie comes from the last name for one of my characters in Skyrim, Anya Stormfyre. The 'fyrie' part stands for fire which means a source of inspiration and a light in the darkness. The short version of Anya's story: she is the black sheep of her family due to her wanting to be a battlemage instead of following the family tradition of being a warrior or a blacksmith. She left home, trained combat skills under the Companions and joined the College of Winterhold to further her studies in destruction magic.

This is my other oc, Jezebel Black, who is a vampire surviving since the Oblivion era.

I thought it was funny how the guard is staring at her. I never understood why the Savior's Hide is so skimpy and it didn't come with a complete set. I had Jezebel wore it temporaily while I searched the nexus for an armor mod.

As of Dec. 26th 2022, I can no longer play Oldrim anymore due to the mods I installed. It was great while it lasted. No regrets.
